TEKTRO R559 LONG REACH CALIPERS

The Tektro R559 is nearly the last of it's kind. It's an extra long reach "road" caliper brake that allows you to run big puffy tires on your "roadish" bicycle.

When Grant redesigned the Cheviot I was nearly apoplectic. I didn't understand how they could improve upon perhaps the nicest riding bike I'd ever ridden. The explanation was that the R559 was nearly the only brake that would work on that bike. The fear was Tektro would discontinue it, and everyone would be up a creek.

Thankfully, the R559 still lives and we can all run big 'ole tires, or do those 650b conversions to our hearts content. At least for now.
